Established in 1964, the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in Delhi Cantonment stands as the flagship medical institution of the Indian Armed Forces. Hospital established as a 200-bed facility to serve Delhi Cantonment military personnel.

1982

Designated as referral center for Northern Command, expanding to 450 beds.

2005

Upgraded to tertiary care center with advanced cardiac and neurosurgery units.

Recognized as COVID-19 dedicated facility, treating over 5,000 patients during pandemic.

Military Medicine Research

Focus on combat trauma, high-altitude medicine, chemical-biological-radiological-nuclear (CBRN) defense, and operational stress management. Collaboration with Armed Forces Medical College and DRDO.

Clinical Trials Unit

Phase II-IV clinical trials in cardiology, oncology, and infectious diseases. Accredited by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) with dedicated research wards and monitoring facilities.

Biomedical Engineering

Development of prosthetics, assistive devices for disabled soldiers, and telemedicine solutions for remote military postings. Partnerships with IIT Delhi and All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
